Fall 2008 News

Well, here we are – ready or not – at the start of a new year of club activities!  This past year has been very successful: all of our fundraisers have been quite profitable enabling us to continue our donations to local causes; we’ve made real progress on our restoration work at the Old Village Church; and we’ve had some great times at our various activities.  The coming year promises to be even better and we will be kicking it off with a guest speaker, Tom Slayton, on Sunday, Sept. 21, sponsored cooperatively with the Tenney Memorial Library.  One of only 3 all-club meetings planned during the year, this fall get-together is a wonderful opportunity to find out what everyone has been up to all summer and to invite friends and neighbors to join us. Selenda Girardin, who very graciously planned this program with Marjorie Shane, has provided more detailed information for us later in this newsletter.

Our second all-member meeting will be our annual Cookie Swap/Yankee Swap.  The tentative date for this activity is Sunday afternoon, December 14.  However, if you know of a major conflict for that date, please notify me  so we can try to schedule it for a more convenient time.  Also, please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for improvement!  We will send out more details closer to that date.

Finally, check out all the news from the various activity groups in the club.  There are several events planned throughout the fall that look like a lot of fun.  Remember, EVERYONE is invited to participate in everything (and to bring along friends and family members as well!)  Also, if you have an idea for an activity or service project you would like the club to sponsor be sure to let us know and we’ll help get it organized.  See you soon – Jane Labun
